This light isn't very bright. I wouldn't want to rely on it to light even a small room by itself. However, if you're looking for alternative light source that doesn't rely on electricity and operates on a timer, this is a good buy. If you are going to be away from home or want to have a light in an out building, shed or garage for security reasons this will do the trick.I love this battery operated lamp. Gives off a good bit of light, very fashionable! It starts off bright and awesome! Timer is always on point! Super cute! Here’s the downfall & the negative!1) can’t replace bulb (which I read before buying).2) DRAINS batteries soooo fast!! This really irritated me! Literally like a week and it was so dim from dying that it was useless as a light! That makes it not worth the money! I had already trashed all the packaging prior to realizing this. Here is your fix to my issue…do yourself a favor and buy some rechargeable batteries to use and switch them out….other use you’ll be spending way too much on batteries!!!Loved the look of it BUT brand new batteries only last a few days! Not worth it!This lamp is very attractive for a table centerpiece or pretty much anyplace else you want to put it. It operates on batteries, and it has a cool feature that allows you to set a time for it to come on automatically. The one thing I don't like is the on/off button on the bottom is very small and a little hard to operate. If it were bigger, this lamp would be perfect.I ordered this for my wife as she loved the last lamp (bonsai tree) that I ordered her. I figured this looked nice enough to have on the table and serve a purpose as well, and it turns out I was right. She saw this, fell in love with it, and had to try it out the day it arrived. (Works well, I might add!)The base is plastic, the frame is metal, the bulb is plastic but thin enough to look and feel like glass. It's light enough to carry around but heavy enough to stay put.It takes three AAA batteries (I do recommend rechargeables) and it'll run on a timer for six hours, sleep for 18, so you can stretch the life of any batteries that are installed. (I still recommend rechargeables, though.) You can slide the switch to always on if you'd like, so there's no need to worry about a timer. Still, a nice feature to include so you don't burn through batteries so fast. You'd think a battery-operated LED bulb wouldn't be that bright and I thought that as well, we were wrong. This is surprisingly bright and the light does a pretty good job of lighting up a room. I wouldn't do intricate work under it but it can definitely fill a room with plenty of workable light. (A handful of these would be great for a power outage. Gives you plenty of light so you can do what you need to without fumbling in the dark.)The bulb is not replaceable, it's permanently attached, but it works well. It's a shame the whole thing dies when the bulb dies, though. It's a really nice lamp/display piece, such a shame it'll become fodder for the waste pile when it's all said and done. That's my only real complaint about this.I wasn't sure what to expect, it's basically a non-descript, barely any print on it, cardboard box. Immediately, I thought "Oh, boy. It's gonna be junk, isn't it?" and I was pleasantly surprised. Turned out to be quite nice.Considering the brightness, considering the functionality of it, the price is worth it and I think you'd do well to have one or more of these around. A nice bit of ambiance, a light for power outages, just a nice display piece overall, definitely recommended.Battery power not economical
